Ken nos alagó con su presencia en uno de nuestros rutinarios Death Cafés.
Death Café is an international movement founded by John Underwood in England in 2011. Jon Underwood decided to develop a series of projects about death, one of which was to focus on talking about death. Inspired by the work of Bernard Crettaz, Jon immediately decided to use a similar model for his own project, and so Death Cafe was born.
In a Death Cafe, people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death.
Our goal is "to raise awareness about death in order to help people make the most of their (finite) lives."
A Death Cafe is a group discussion about death without agenda, goals or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a counseling or grief support session.
In San Miguel de Allende, we have facilitated Death Cafés since July 2018. During the pandemic, we have offered weekly virtual Death Cafés, which have become international Death Cafés, with participation around the world, from Russia, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, France, Greece, Spain, Japan, to countries in Latin America, United States, Canada, and Hawaii. 2021 continues with bimonthly Death Cafés, equally international.
